Take a Moment!
The Lopez Lot originally launched in 2014 as a personal blog called The Pretty Platform, an idea that mostly evolved during my boring bus rides to and from work. It was created as an outlet to express strong, outspoken opinions on many topics, but mostly on those that interested and affected women. Today though, it has been re-branded as a weekly lifestyle site directed toward all types of folks, with a focus on the many lots of life we're each presented with. And that's because we can be many things; a business owner, a coworker, a parent, spouse, sibling, best friend, patient, caregiver, or activist, to name a few. We learn to juggle, or at least try to juggle our obligations along with our hobbies, interests and goals. While we live and survive each of these moments, we also crave and need time away from many of them. Time away from people. Time away from the world. Time away from the noise. Enter The Lopez Lot... a place I hope you'll continually visit to equally connect and disconnect, while never forgetting or underestimating the beauty that is your life.
Two great quotes to consider:

“The mind is sharper and keener in seclusion and uninterrupted solitude. [...] Originality thrives in seclusion free of outside influences beating upon us to cripple the creative mind. Be alone, that is the secret of invention; be alone, that is when ideas are born.” - Nikola Tesla

“We need solitude, because when we're alone, we're free from obligations, we don't need to put on a show, and we can hear our own thoughts” - Tamim Ansary

Meet the Author:
I'll keep this brief, since this blog is not about me, but about all the things that you and I may be experiencing simultaneously.
My name is Elke Lopez. And like yourself, life has been both great and challenging. And like yourself, I am many things. So many, at times it can feel exhausting. I'm a wife to a man who not only challenges me, but also loves to compete on who's the best at gift giving. I am a mother to three boys that keep me on my toes while surprising me with each passing year, and an aunt to a niece that's more like a daughter to me since the day she was born. I was a dedicated daughter and caretaker for the length of my late mother's life. I was a sister to a wonderful woman whose life was taken from us too soon by Alzheimer's. I'm also a fur mom to a neurotic, but ultra cuddly chihuahua named Ginger. And with all that, I'm a friend to an amazing group of supportive and loving people, while always finding ways to be true to myself. I creatively make little pockets of "free time" to do the things I love, like reading, writing, dabbling in painting and pottery. I discovered a love for vegetation gardening during this pandemic, and I'm practically a poster child for all things Target.
I'm big on seeking inspiration and truly believe in the benefits of meditation and positivity. And if you were able to look deep into my soul, you’d see that my greatest desire is to encourage, empower and inspire.

And my personal favorite, I'm in the final stages of writing a children's book.
I officially welcome you to the Lopez Lot.
Sincerely,
Elke Lopez
